Received

My cousin, Dory, said she had received my book as had started working on the proofing! This is exciting. Don't know what she thinks of it, since I haven't really talked to her about it.

Mailed!

Well, I have finally gotten my book mailed to my cousin for proofing. I know I should have gotten it mailed quite a few days ago, but it didn't happen. It still seems strange to think that I will be getting this book actually published! And it won't be many weeks before I begin the process with the publishing house. Is it all a dream? I still remember when I started it. I remember naming my characters. At the time, I had no idea of how real they would all become to me. I hope they become as real to all of you who read it in print in a few months. A few months?! Now that sounds like a dream.

I'll keep you updated with how things are going. Thanks for checking back.

Something new

I just wanted any readers to know that I got my Characters page up if you want to go read it. I also added to the "It all started . . ." page. Take a look. Is there anything else you would like to know about? Leave me a note in the comments if there is, and I'll try to put it on.

Update

I know it has been a while since I last posted. What with Thanksgiving and now Christmas coming, things are busy. I have all the corrections done (until the proofer gets it.:)), and now just have to get the "family tree" page and the dedication/acknowledgements page done. I think the bibliography page is done. Anyone want to guess how many books and/or web sites I used when writing my book?
I hope to get an "introducing the characters" page up here before much longer, so be sure you check back.
I have to get the book in the mail to my cousin before the 17th. I'm hoping to mail it this week.

Proofer Found!

I have a proofreader! Many thanks to my cousin, Dory, who said she would proof my book over the Christmas break! She is in her second year of collage and wants to be a copy editor, so this will give her some practice. Now I just have to get it finished so I can get it to her when her break comes.:)

Welcome

Welcome to Home Fires of the Great War blog. I hope this will help to keep you updated as the process to publication progresses. After six long years of working on this book, it is exciting, as well as hard to believe, that in the near future I might be a published author! I hope you are excited to see this book in print like I am!
